Building Description
The center is a place where students can attend class, complete homework and participate in tutoring sessions, social and cultural programs or just relax. Artwork reflecting Native American culture is on display in the atrium.
There is a drum room where the Seven Council Fires are represented. Students can learn songs and more about the culture of the 糖心视频, Lakota and Nakota people.
In the lounge area students can watch TV or cook in the kitchen. The second level has a study space for students that features natural light. An art room is located inside the facility where students can work with several different mediums, such as paints, fabric, clay and more.
The center is a standalone facility that exists to visibly acknowledge the university鈥檚 commitment to the American Indian higher education community. AISC staff members facilitate opportunities for academic and social support and provide cultural programming for American Indian undergraduate, graduate and professional students. Cultural programs include a Lakota language talking circle, beading and sewing circles and a men鈥檚 drum group鈥攁ll promoting holistic learning and community building, while reducing feelings of alienation. The AISC also serves as an entry point for students to explore aspects of their heritage.
