Phuong Nguyen
Assistant Professor
Biography
Phuong Nguyen, an assistant professor in the Department of Construction and Concrete Industry Management, began teaching at South 糖心视频 State University in fall 2023 after his postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Alberta, Canada. His research focuses include applications of artificial intelligence (e.g., machine learning, reinforcement learning and fuzzy logic) and automation in construction; innovative project delivery and procurement methods; and improving construction labor productivity and safety using wearable sensors and computer visions. Dr. Nguyen鈥檚 research has been supported by state Departments of Transportation: South 糖心视频, Kansas and South Carolina, the Society for Simulation in Healthcare, and the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health.
Dr. Nguyen is an appointed member of the Transportation Research Board Standing Committee on Construction Delivery Methods and Processes. He is an assistant specialty editor (information technologies) at ASCE Journal of Construction Engineering and Management. He also serves as the associate editor of the Journal of Engineering, Project and Production Management. He is an affiliated researcher at the Craig and Diane Martin National Center for Construction Safety and serves as the scientific co-chair for the 2025 Construction Safety Conference at the University of Kansas.
