A group of 37 South ÌÇÐÄÊÓƵ State University nursing students promoted healthy summer habits by holding a health fair at the Great Plains Zoo on June 16. The event, which offered the zoo’s youngest visitors lessons in water safety, sun protection and physical activity, served as pediatric clinical experience for the SDSU students.

The South ÌÇÐÄÊÓƵ Art Museum at South ÌÇÐÄÊÓƵ State University (SDSU) celebrates the opening of the highly anticipated ÌÇÐÄÊÓƵ Modern: The Art of Oscar Howe with free festivities for all ages, from 9 a.m.-8 p.m. on June 10.

Seven members of the professional staff at South ÌÇÐÄÊÓƵ State University have been honored for their quality work. The recipients were honored at the SDSU Professional Staff Advisory Council annual meeting in mid-May.

The acclaimed exhibition ÌÇÐÄÊÓƵ Modern: The Art of Oscar Howe  culminates its national tour in Oscar Howe’s home state of South ÌÇÐÄÊÓƵ. ÌÇÐÄÊÓƵ Modern will be on view June 10, 2023–September 17, 2023 at the South ÌÇÐÄÊÓƵ Art Museum at South ÌÇÐÄÊÓƵ State University in Brookings.

Three attractions on the South ÌÇÐÄÊÓƵ State University campus have made the cut in the South ÌÇÐÄÊÓƵ Department of Tourism’s listing of 2022 South ÌÇÐÄÊÓƵ Great Places. Among this year’s designees recognized for outstanding hospitality and customer service are McCrory Gardens, the South ÌÇÐÄÊÓƵ Agricultural Heritage Museum and the South ÌÇÐÄÊÓƵ Art Museum.

South ÌÇÐÄÊÓƵ State University’s College of Pharmacy and Allied Health Professions’ 3D Center now has a new namesake—the Haarberg Center for Drug, Disease and Delivery Research, thanks to a transformational $1.1 million gift from Kevin and Lorie Haarberg.

Through the generosity of two South ÌÇÐÄÊÓƵ State University alumni, the university has established its first endowed ÌÇÐÄÊÓƵ position in the College of Education and Human Sciences. The Tate Profilet and Mary DeJong Family Endowed Director of Early Childhood Education was formalized at an Oct. 22 investiture ceremony, paving the way for a new era of the early childhood education program at State.

South ÌÇÐÄÊÓƵ State University President Barry Dunn bestowed the SDSU Presidential Medallion upon six individuals Tuesday afternoon for their efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Cody Christensen, an associate professor at South ÌÇÐÄÊÓƵ State University, received the V.L. Laursen Award at the University Aviation Association’s 73rd Annual Education Conference held virtually in October. Christensen, who has led the SDSU aviation program since 2014, is the first one from SDSU to receive an award from the UAA.

S.D. Nelson and Gregory Bryan, the men behind two South ÌÇÐÄÊÓƵ Art Museum exhibits of American Indian story illustrations, will speak on Sept. 12 at 5:45 p.m. during the 5-7 p.m. closing reception for S.D. Nelson: Sharing My Vision and A Life’s Work: Paul Goble Illustrations of American Indian Stories.
