The South ������Ƶ State University School of Performing Arts will present cultural historian Joseph Horowitz and French classical pianist Jean-Efflam Bavouzet in a lecture-recital titled “Ravel and Jazz” on Tuesday, Feb. 25, 7:30 p.m. in the Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center.

The South ������Ƶ State University School of Performing Arts and the School of American and Global Studies are partnering with the South ������Ƶ Symphony Orchestra of Sioux Falls to present a forum titled “Music as an Instrument of Diplomacy” on Monday, Feb. 24, 7:30 p.m. in the Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center.

South ������Ƶ State University will host the In-Service Music Conference on campus Feb. 13-15. The conference will bring music educators from across the state to the Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center for a series of workshops and concerts.

Serving as the “voice of students,” Trinity Peterson is the president of the SDSU Students’ Association. Students’ Association is the student government at SDSU with student senators elected from each of the academic colleges.

The South ������Ƶ Agricultural Heritage Museum and the South ������Ƶ Industrial Hemp Association will present “The Future of Hemp,” a program about industrial hemp production in South ������Ƶ, at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 6.

The 2025 Lamb Bonanza at South ������Ƶ State University featured the traditional auction of lamb pelts, this year raising $6,700 for student scholarships.

American musician, writer and speaker Dessa will share her inspiration as a multi-disciplinary artist when she delivers the Harding Distinguished Lecture on Jan. 23 at the Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center. The artist will also share her appreciation for the far-reaching impact of the liberal arts, humanities and social sciences at the 6 p.m. event in Founders Recital Hall on the South ������Ƶ State University campus.

South ������Ƶ State University Theatre and Dance’s fall 2024 production of “Fuddy Meers” by David Lindsay-Abaire has been selected to be presented at the 57th annual Region 5 Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival Conference in Des Moines, Iowa, on Jan. 21. To help defray the costs of taking the production to Des Moines, a one-night-only fundraising performance of the show will be presented at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14, at the Oscar Larson Theatre in the Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center on the SDSU campus.

Jahmal Cole, founder and CEO of My Block My Hood My City, will be the guest speaker at South ������Ƶ State University during the third annual Martin Luther King Jr. Rally and Marade event to honor the life and legacy of the civil rights activist.

Sen Subramanian has been named dean of the College of Natural Sciences at South ������Ƶ State University.
